Please note that "Date Available"
is often the day the dog gets
euthanized... if the dog is
not reclaimed by the owner (in the case of
a stray) or if there are
no holds on the dog by by a potential adopter.
Most shelters will keep the dog
for up to a week at most from the day
it's found ('impounded') until it becomes
"available". However, in other cases the
dog may be eligible for adoption right
away and so indicated by the "Date Available".
If you are interested in any of
these dogs, please visit that shelter soon
to place a hold. Due to the high number of
dogs that most shelters receive, they are rarely
able to hold the dog very long pass the "Date Available"
unless there is space. For this reason, it may
be best that you call the shelter first to confirm
that the dog you're interested in has not yet been
adopted or euthanized, and is still there. We
do our best to keep this page as updated as possible,
but due to the high activity at most shelters it
is impossible for it to be completely accurate.

Australian Shepherd
Sex: neutered male
Age: 6 Years
Size: 65 lbs
Bob is a stunningly handsome
black tri-color Australian Shepherd. He's on the big
side, but has a beautiful coat. He's a sweet boy too -- a bit
over-excited and clearly wanting NOT to be at the shelter, but
polite and friendly. He's had some training: he knows "sit" and "down"
and is pretty good on leash even though he wants to be somewhere far
from his kennel!
Bob did REALLY well during his
assessment with a 12 year old girl and should be fine
with most people, but he has a history of some nipping at
his previous home on a ranch with a family and lots of other farm
animals, so a new home with kids may not be a good match.
Bob seems to like other dogs,
and when we showed him a cat, he acted as if it wasn't there,
so he has good animal social skills.
