Please note that "Date
Available"
is often the day the dog gets euthanized... if
the dog is not reclaimed by the owner (in the case of a stray) or if
there are no holds on the dog by by a potential adopter. Most shelters
will keep the dog for up to a week at most from the day it's found
('impounded')
until it becomes "available". However, in other cases the dog may be
eligible
for adoption right away and so indicated by the "Date Available". If
you
are interested in any of these dogs, please visit that shelter soon to
place a hold. Due to the high number of dogs that most shelters
receive,
they are rarely able to hold the dog very long pass the "Date
Available"
unless there is space. For this reason, it may be best that you call
the
shelter first to confirm that the dog you're interested in has not yet
been adopted or euthanized, and is still there. We do our best to keep
this page as updated as possible, but due to the high activity at most
shelters it is impossible for it to be completely accurate.

JEMMA is a very attentive girl who would make a wonderful companion. She sits happily in your lap and plays very nicely with other dogs and loves to play with her toys. She is confident in spite of the fact that she is both hearing and sight impaired. She is good with children and seems to love everyone. She should be placed with another dog. WHAT A DOLL!!! Male, 1 years old. He is everything you could want in a dog -- adorably cute, playful, affectionate -- and smart. He has a beautiful coat of silky soft medium length white fur with black patches and black speckles. He is either a purebred Border Collie, or a mix of Border Collie and Australian Shepherd, about 38 pounds. He seems to be in very good condition. When you visit, he playfully bounces over to you, raises himself up on his cage bars to get close to you, puts those darling speckled feet on the bars and stands there happily on his back two legs while you hug him and he hugs you back. MARZIPAN - Female, Australian Shepherd-Shepherd mix Available: NOW Rescued from the East Valley shelter, Marzipan had been adopted from there as a young pup, but returned 6 months later because her family decided they had *no time* for her. She is a very sweet and loving teenager who can be skittish in new situations. She would love to be adopted by someone who will work with her on confidence-building. Marzipan is very submissive with other dogs and would probably be okay with kitties given careful introduction and supervision. Potential adopters should be prepared for regular grooming of Marzipan’s gorgeous coat. She is 9-10 months old and 30+ lbs. |

Humane's own website! PENELOPE - Female, Spaniel-Australian Shepherd mix Available: NOW Penelope is a lovely young dog rescued from the Baldwin Park shelter. This sweet, sensitive beauty can be somewhat reluctant in new situations, but warms up quickly to give kisses. Very calm and gentle with people she gets to know and trust. She likes to lean into you and is also fond of belly-rubs. Penelope is good with dogs, but no kitties, please. Penelope truly enjoys children. She will certainly blossom in a loving home. She is very athletic and needs a fenced yard that is minimum 6’ high. Penelope is 2 years old and about 40 lbs. Penelope is currenlty enrolled in Paul Owens’ six-week class for basic manners with our volunteer Linda. Go girls! |

Rudy is a gorgeous unique looking (one brown eye, one blue eye) 2 year old shepherd mix who was abandoned by his owners because they are moving and are not able to take poor Rudy with them. They did provide us with the following information: "We kept Rudy outside. He is good with kids of all ages and he is Not destructive and does NOT jump fences, does NOT dig holes". they also added " Rudy is a fun loving dog, full of energy. He is hesitant with new people but after a while he adjust just fine. I have two boys ages 3 and 10 and he has been wonderful to them. He loves walks and toys to play with" Great family Pet. Rudy is neutered, up to date in shots and ready to go home today! |
